Colors
Well boys & girls, lets learn something about colors. That could become usefull if you're going to color some (or all) of your work.
Categories of colors
After their origin we have colors of first, second and third degree.
First degree colors
That are Red, Yellow and Blue. Yes, you're right, on your PC you have the RGB (RedGreenBlue) thats because your computer works internal in different way (dont ask me for technical details).
Secondary degree colors
Well, these colors are obtained mixing two (2) primary colors.
Red + Blue = Magenta Red + Yellow = Orange Yellow + Blue = Green
Third degree colors
As you problably guess, they are the result of the combination between
a first degree color and a second degree color.
For example - Red
+ Orange,
Blue
+ Magenta,
and so...
The magic white color
Well, well... surprise, surprise but i bet that i could get white starting from different colors.
Red + Green gets White Yellow + Magenta = White Orange + Blue = White
Red + Blue + Yellow Orange + Green + Magenta and you have again white.
Light colors and pigment colors
I think that everyones knows the rainbow colors, well that are the light
colors.
The pigment colors are the one that artist are using in their paintings.
These color are differnt from the "light colors" because you
cant get the white color by mixing them with
other colors. You'll get only darker or grey colors if you mix them with
white.
The pigment colors never have the
purity of the light colors.
Color attributes
These are things such us brightness, luminosity (contrast), intensity and purity or saturation.
Color brightness
Is defined by the radiation force of the color.
Example: a cadmium red is brighter than a venice red.
Color luminosity (contrast)
Shows the degree of luminosity of a color.
Example: a pure yellow its 3 times higher than a pure magenta
a pure red is egual as a pure green
a pure orange its 2 times higher than a pure blue
Color intensity
Is the force that a color have regarding his brightness and luminosity when its stand beside other color.
Example: a pure red beside a red mixed with some white or black is more intense
Colors purity or saturation
Shows the degree of purity and intensity of color.
Example: light colors (rainbow color) have maximum of intensity
a neutral grey (50% white and 50% black) is consider as the maximum of
saturation.
Cold and worm colors
How could a color be cold or warm. Well its the way that impress your eyes.
Warm colors: Red, Yellow, Orange
Cold colors: Green, Blue, Magenta
Regarding the relations between these two categories, well... green is
wormer than blue, red than magenta, and so on...
Ok, you have just learned somethings about colors. If its gonna be usefull for you, well... i dont really know but anyway for me was.
